Backstory: Ferio Tego was founded in 2021 by Michael Herklots and Brendon Scott, both former Nat Sherman International employees. They purchased the rights to the Nat Sherman cigar portfolio from Altria after Nat Sherman closed. The company name 'Ferio Tego' is new because Altria retained the Nat Sherman name for its cigarette brand. The Elegancia and Generoso were the company's inaugural releases — entirely new blends, not carryovers from the Nat Sherman portfolio. Distributed in the U.S. by Davidoff of Geneva USA.
Release: The 2024 vintage was released August 27, 2025 after 22 months of aging (rolled late 2023). This is the 4th annual release (debuted October 2021). Ferio Tego takes a wine-inspired vintage approach — each year's blend is 'reinterpreted' rather than replicated. The band displays the intended vintage year. Annual limited production with undisclosed quantities.
Tobacco: The wrapper is described as a classic Connecticut shade style from Ecuador — golden with slightly more yellow than typical. The 2021 review identifies fillers from both the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, while the 2024 release article mentions only Dominican Republic fillers. The blend may evolve between vintages. The wrapper has a golden hue described as resembling cigars in Davidoff's own portfolio.
Color: The wrapper presents as a classic Connecticut shade — golden with a bit more yellow than a typical shade wrapper, with some small water spots. Consistent with a Claro / Connecticut classification.
Fun Fact: The cigar boxes are made by HumidifGroup and double as travel humidors with an included humidity packet. They also contain an NFC chip designed to link to the Ferio Tego website when tapped with a smartphone — though the feature didn't work in testing. The box design and blue-and-gold band colorway bear a striking resemblance to Drew Estate's Undercrown branding.
