Backstory: Puro Dominicano traces back to 2009, when it launched as one of the first Davidoff blends built entirely from 100% Dominican tobacco. It re-emerged in 2018 under the limited Vault Series with a new blend, then returned in 2026 as a permanent line within Davidoff's Black Band Collection — the same collection that houses Escurio, Nicaragua, and Yamasá. Each 2026 release in the line uses its own unique blend; this is not a continuation of the 2009 or 2018 recipes.
Release: Regular production, debuting April 23, 2026. Sold as a sealed pack of 5 ($126) or sealed box of 12 ($302.40) — both arrive humidor-ready. The Perfecto is one of three vitolas in the relaunched line.
Tobacco: An all-Dominican figurado sourced from six distinct growing regions — wrapper from Yamasá, binder from Martín Garcia, fillers blended from Villa González, Mao, Piloto, Navarrete, and Yamasá. The Yamasá leaf is grown in challenging Dominican terroir prized for darker, more substantial wrappers.
Color: Dark, oily wrapper with depth and sheen — noticeably darker than the typical Davidoff lineup thanks to the Yamasá leaf.
Fun Fact: The Perfecto's tapered-both-ends construction calls for a more experienced roller, and Davidoff specifically hand-rolls these in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Fun Fact: The Black Band Collection is Davidoff's home for bolder, more terroir-driven blends — a deliberate counterpoint to the gold-band classics most smokers associate with the brand.
