Backstory: Part of Plasencia's ongoing Chinese zodiac series, released to honor the Year of the Tiger (2022). The Plasencia family chose the tiger because it symbolizes traits they see in their own house — determination, confidence, persistence, and a dynamic streak. The family has been growing tobacco since 1865, and credits adaptability with carrying the business across five generations.
Release: Launched January 2022 as a limited edition, debuting internationally first and then arriving in the U.S. around TPE 2022 in late January. Production run was 6,250 boxes of 8 (~50,000 cigars total), with 2,500 boxes allocated to the U.S. market.
Tobacco: A Nicaraguan puro drawn from the Plasencia library of long-aged leaf — wrapper, binder, and filler reportedly aged up to 10 years.
Color: Standard medium-brown wrapper with a few prominent, lighter-toned veins and a moderate sheen of oil. Foot is nearly perfectly cylindrical; occasional soft spots reported toward the midsection. Cold aroma is mild, leaning barnyard and oak.
Fun Fact: Boxes hold 8 cigars — a deliberate nod to 8 being a lucky number in Chinese culture. The vitola is marketed as a Toro Extra (6 1/4 x 54), slightly longer and thicker than a standard Toro.
Fun Fact: Common tasting notes across reviews include black pepper, cedar, earth, dark chocolate, espresso, leather, and a hint of dried fruit — sitting between medium and full in body.
